winter break

note to self,

christmas break was too short.  it was wonderful but as always, it seemed to last only a day long.  seeing family was so nice and being able to take your mind off of school was refreshing.  you went to atlanta, georgia to help move sis back but your short trip became extended when the random "weather bomb" hit and all of atlanta became snowed-in! it was nice however to see some snow over the break since the weather here was more along the lines of 70 degrees [no complaints].  you took lots of pictures and had fun with friends. so basically it ended up being a mini-vacation haha! only negative: you did not pack for snowy weather aka your shoes leaked water. so i guess next time, just check the weather before you decide to go 5 states over.

note to self,

for so long you have thought that being alone was something bad. you saw yourself without a best friend, without a boyfriend and thought how pathetic, she is all alone.  but what a beautiful reminder it is to hear how being alone is not a negative connotation.  it is ok to be by yourself, to do things on your own, to not have someone walk hand in hand with you down the street. its ok to sit solo, to dance solo, to sing solo, and to laugh solo.  its perfectly ok.

break time

note to self,

it is a good feeling to receive all A's.  you should aim for that every semester. but now you should stop thinking about school and start enjoying this glorious Christmas break.  enjoy spending time with family and with friends old and new.  enjoy the crisp cool air and the freedom of being able to sleep in.  enjoy this break but do not forget the whole meaning behind Christmas: Jesus.  Christmas is the time when you recognize Jesus' birth into this world.  That day is the day that changed the world forever.  You sin everyday but because God put his only son on this earth to die for your sins, you are forgiven.  So enjoy this break but remember to give thanks to God for Jesus.

its funny how exactly a month ago it was freezing but today mother nature decided she wanted to wear a sundress

looking out your window you see a tree branch covered with orange leaves and a blue sky filled with white puffy clouds.  the wind is blowing a warm breeze which makes the leaves rustle as if they are dancing.  a large bird is flying through the sky enjoying the view from above. the sun is shining brightly creating a glow throughout your room.  this is such a beautiful day.  yes, it is December 4th and you are still able to wear shorts outside but who cares? enjoy this weather while you can, the cold is bound to come back soon

thanksgiving day is tomorrow.  once upon a time there were pilgrims and indians.  long story short they became friends and now we get to eat yummy food in honor of being thankful. yea thats not a very historical definition but whatever, we get a few days off of school. not complaining.  just enjoying the break before finals start!

camping

note to self:

you may have just met your life long best friends.  you were faced with the decision of choosing to go camping or to go to galveston.  you definitely made the right decision.  there is nothing that can compare to sitting around a campfire roasting smore's, talking about life, going hiking through unknown terrain, and making a berry headband  while engaging in an acorn fight. absolutely nothing can compare.  the smell of smoke is still lingering even after washing but oh what a weekend...i wouldn't trade that scent for the world.

the case of the "what if's"

note to self:

i wonder what would have happened if you didn't break up with that first boy.  you were crying when you did it so why did you do it? you are long over it now but you know, what if?  what would happen if you married that second boy? you had considered it then but once again, you decided you wanted the relationship to end. you have started thinking more about that boy lately but again you are over it.  but you know, what if?  what if you had not attached so strongly to that third boy? would he had not been scared off? or was that inevitable? once again you are over it but you know, what if?  what if you wouldn't have taken your best friend dating your ex-boyfriend so personally? would you still have a best friend? or would something else had ruined that too? you're ok but you know, what if?  what if you would have had the courage to tell the boy that moved away freshman year in high school that you actually liked him?  would things right now be any different?  or would he have shut you down?  what if one of the boys that you are meeting now is your future husband?  would you be ok with not having a fairy-tale story? what if you died tomorrow? would you be ok with how your life went down? or would you have died with "what if" questions that kept you up at night?

i choose this picture because the wisest words of wisdom will tell you to not ask "what if" but to ask "what's next?"

next time you go home when the weather is still warm and don't plan on coming home until after it has already begun to get cold outside, you should probably bring back some winter clothes.  the weather is now starting to become too cold for shorts and guess what the only bottoms you have to wear are? shorts. nice kacey, nice.

the best game ever invented is the cake walk game.  there is a circle made up of sheets of paper labeled with numbers on it that you walk on while music is playing in the background.  when the music stops, someone pulls a number from a bag and the winner is the person standing on that number.  and what does the winner get? a cake/cupcake.  the best part about this game? you can play over and over and over and over.  mmm

don't go walking through campus with a fake gun.  people will still take it as a threat and things will get cray-cray.  today on campus a corps member just recently was issued his rifle and decided to go on a stroll through campus.  there was no intention of harming anyone but what a dumb decision on his end.  it was very impressive the rate of response that the campus had and the alerts that were sent out and thank goodness no one was harmed or was in any danger.  unfortunately, i'm sure we are going to be the butt of many jokes to come.

you were born in the wrong decade.  when you really should have been born was the roaring 1920s.  you would have pulled off that flapper girl look so well.  i guess you'll just have to stick with being a flapper girl for halloween. geez.

be brave

note to self:

you are not good at confrontation.  you are not a fan and when it happens you tend to flee.  something you should work on is building up courage to stand up and defend.  not obnoxiously but you shouldn't live cowardly. stand up for what you believe and don't settle for anything less.  and if nothing else, all this crap you are having to go through is a brick builder for the future. hopefully it will help thicken your skin.

going out dancing, picking up the recycling bins around downtown, and then going to ihop until 5am, sleeping for 3 hours, and then waking up at 8am to go pick up trash along the campus streams is an easy way to make your body sleep until 5 in the afternoon and still be tired. you will however look similar to ke$ha by the end of everything but this is what college is about so you would do last night all over again if given the chance.

you really need to take better care of your body.  first you pass out at the football game and your knees are all busted up and now while opening the door to the building for class you end up slicing the first layer of skin off your toe.  next time, stand a little farther away from the door when opening it because limping around campus is not cute...you just look like you have a wedgie you are trying to undo without being too obvious

how to forget to do an assignment

note to self:

if you want to forget you have an assignment due here is what you must do. you must be lazy and watch TV. you must watch NCIS, NCIS: LA, Hawaii Five-O, Life Unexpected, Rules of Engagement, and How I Met Your Mother. yes, sure, some people may view this as being lazy but since you didn't think you had anything else better to do today you will think it is perfectly acceptable. You will remember however during class, while eavesdropping on the people around you, that there was indeed an assignment due today and all you can do is sit there and try to justify to yourself that its college and things like this happen all the time.
